about

If you've heard any of my music over the last 20 years, you've probably noted that the 90s are an important decade for me. I was 11 in 1991 when Nirvana's "Nevermind" was released and basically changed my life. Soon I had my own guitar, and spent countless hours in my room learning Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains songs (along with "Row Your Boat" which I wasn't too keen on), trying to figure out my own identity through anguished singing and fuzzed out guitars. Getting into grunge opened up the door to an underground that I wasn't previously aware - Sonic Youth, Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr. and many more became integrated into my collection, and pretty soon I identified as an "indie rocker" more than anything else.

So consider "Treat You Good" a love letter to the indie rock of the 90s, with tributes to some of my favorite songs and bands of the era like Stereolab, Belle & Sebastian and Guided By Voices. All of the tracks are home recorded and scrappy, made quickly over the course of a weekend to try and capture the original energy and spirt that makes these songs so great. I put my own spin on them to keep things interesting, and I hope I did these classics justice enough for you to at least be intrigued.

Thanks for listening.
